Where Were You?
Did You Watch It?
Were You There?
What was your memorable moment?
Would you like to see another Live Aid, today.
Who would you want to see perform in a present day Live Aid?
Among the highlights/memorable moments:
David Bowie & Mick Jagger performing a duettogether on different sides of the Atlantic.
Phil Collins performing at the UK & US concert
Simon Le Bon from Duran Duran performing his inadvertent falsetto note later noted as the "The Bum Note Heard Round The World".
The video of Drive by The Cars, a very emotional and heart wrenching look at the sheer extent of the starving in Africa, reduced most to tears and a huge surge in donations.

Another Live Aid would be brilliant, the music industry have never been shy giving up there time and performing for various causes but with the age of technology as it is today surely the massive scale and impact could not be replicated.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand it could be much bigger and more worldwide than the original Live Aid. I was a teenager at the time of the first one and was much to interested in spending time with my boyfriend at the time than to appreciate this huge musical event that was making history, although I remember certain times during the day I had to be in front of a TV to see my favourite acts of the time, so 25yrs on I still remember where I was that day.
Who would perform well certainly legends such as Tina Turner, U2, David Bowie, Duran Duran andMadonna that are still around today would add the nostalgia but newer acts? Well!! Lady Gaga is huge right now, Take That, Robbie Williams, Beyonce, then we have band, so many awesome bands you just couldn't choose, seriously how do you decide between Coldplay, Kaiser Chiefs, Muse, Doves, impossible.
So many more genres are more popular today, country music has become more acceptable to a wider audience as has classical crossover which didn't feature in 1985. Suddenly the prospect of another Live Aid in our future would be awesome, give people a reason to unite the world, even for just one day. Could it be possible?
As great as it would be it is highly unlikely that this generation will get their own Live Aid without someone who has the drive and passion for a cause like Sir Bob Geldof did.
